White van man.

Pictured is the latest of about 15 white vans the lads and I have used over the years, most commonly of the Ford transit variety. No fancy Mercedes van for us nor a sign written, trendy pick up truck...no, just a beat up white van with a roof rack. Nothing can beat the white van for carrying tools, junk, cement and drunken builders. Much derided in the press and common culture I think the roll of the white van is shamefully under sung in the part it plays in the nations economy...long live the white van.

And not forgetting of course, the perfect van to carry rock bands and their kit, girlfriends, hangers-on, hangers-off and sundry accoutrements...

The dash board is designed to carry the weight of seventy-eight newspapers, three medium-sized McDonalds meals (cups included), and contains stowage enough receipts for ballast and paint etc just to make the accountant feel wanted!

Misery St Georges cross bit of elecy tape, humph, road tax 03-11,tracking a bit out on front wheels,no Ford badge,no chip papers on dash, far too clean you lot appear to have too much time on your hands, suppose you have a few sunbeds in the paddock, just for lunch time will swing by with a pair of binoculars and check you lot out.

...soft white or crusty?
And what about baps?

Thud said...

Idle...whoops! but now I think it can stay. as for baps...the lads do appreciate a couple of baps, don't we all.

All ready for the world cup then? Practice a bit of footy on your tennis court.

Vinogirl, beer is in the fridge and flags are now on van...long live the white van man stereotypes.

They are quite fun to drive, too. You can't beat that "I can't see quite what's in the next lane but I have to move over anyway" feeling.

I have a yellow van. And a lurcher and a terrier who sit up front. All that is missing is the faded copy of the Sun on the dashboard. The brilliant thing about it being yellow is that you can find it again in the service station car park.
