American style.

The above pic is of a new build house positioned not far from the Macmansion monstrosity of a couple of posts ago. This house is much more to my liking with it's size, materials and muted colouring being more in harmony with it's surroundings rather than being an exercise in landscape domination. This house along with its matching pump house and garage/shop is to me a perfect example of an American style home that I could feel at home in and perhaps one day will.

...and ruined by sticking stones flat onto a concrete wall.... it fools no one that it is a stone wall.
If only they could learn to do drystone walling....

Haddock...wall is a tad better than you suspect. I have watched the local Mexicans build them and more stone is involved than I first thought...see my next post re dry stone (by coincidence)

Beautiful house AND guns.

Citizens Advice said to me the other day, "Don't worry. The debt collectors won't have you deported to Australia."

If only ! As it is they'd like me deported to a sink estate full of ASBOs in Blighty.

(The debt is a fraud against us btw.)

I love it Thudders! The lines and proportions really fit well, and - assuming it's slate, or even look-alike slate, the roof and dormers are just what I always wanted to design and live in too!

(The main reason for this is, why take walls right up to the cornice, when you can slope it inwards at that point? Cheaper to build and more attractive. Nobody is actually going to bang their heads at that point either. Also less volume to heat)!

How about you call in on them one day, and tell them how much an old fart in Kent likes their home...

...they'll possibly not believe you though...

Nice slope to the hill behind it, would be a good place to dig a cave for a wine-cellar. (And to hide a few jeeps and emergency supplies in there too). :-)
