Knocking on heavens door.

The above pic shows a mock up of the doors that I will hopefully be fitting in the next few weeks,or months lets not get too optimistic here. The doors were copied from a surviving original door by a rather useful friend of mine who happily realises in wood some of my badly drawn doodles of mouldings and architrave. The only problem with the Gothic revival style door is the fact that I feel an overpowering urge to genuflect every time I pass...that's what comes of being a left footer I suppose.

Being a confirmed atheist the only genuflecting I do is to my hubby (joke) but your doors are sweet hope mrs otw will appreciate the effort. My doors aren't in your league sort of more conference to your 1st division (sorry premier league), my football analogies need some work. Thud where do you find these craftsmen who can reproduce such fine workmanship and will they work for food ( I am an amazing cook!)lolx

The door looks good but would a genuine Gothic door be white?

RJ...there are a lot of handy scousers out there!
CW...faux hardwood would be an option but flat off white (pale grey) is a valid choice.

Nice design, and definitely a one off.

My old boss (1960s) used to reckon that when he was on the tools in the thirties, he'd be hanging a door an hour, 'and that included putting the locks in'...

They were oak, and huge too...

It was, and they weren't around Thudders...

And he couldn't read or write, but finished up running fifty men and did some of the nicest joinery I ever saw.
