I know a foundry that over several decades rescued bits of random metalwork from around Liverpool as the city imploded. They keep the rescued bits as patterns and I've seen something I like the look of.Cast is quite cheap when considering its lifespan.Thudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18320037763190473684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4086277371785914704.post-58797911948296313722014-05-08T06:15:02.229+01:002014-05-08T06:15:02.229+01:00Wall is looking good.Wall is looking good.Vinogirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10145696108646897751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4086277371785914704.post-53694252178002269522014-05-07T13:13:46.020+01:002014-05-07T13:13:46.020+01:00I read somewhere that the fused bricks are courtes...I read somewhere that the fused bricks are courtesy of The Luftwaffe and are commonly used in London and surrounding areas, they were available in huge quantities for rebuilding after the war; no doubt some were produced in kilns during firing but the huge quantities seen in walls would suggest the Blitz as a source. Nice stonework, I much prefer to see that coursed rubble work than the formal, precise, work of cut stone. I'm pondering what the large kerb-like stones are behind the seat ....haddockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01890864334999930139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4086277371785914704.post-28415112873402498812014-05-07T07:31:50.927+01:002014-05-07T07:31:50.927+01:00If you can trust a link-click, Thud, here's my...If you can trust a link-click, Thud, here's my old boss's entrance with some of the bricks above!

There are several more similar walls along there!

The 'tortoise' in the middle was built to stop people turning in his drive!
