Nice view
Spent some time in stone yard today working out what can come out of the block the quarry has delivered. It was a rare sunny spring day and the view across the priory to Liverpool over the river Mersey was rather special. I also like the shipyard crane looming large over everything, its hard to see here just how bloody massive it is......a good day.

I regularly walk our JRT around our churchyard, and still marvel at the stonework!
Some of the blocks must weigh a couple of tons, and how they got them up to the belfry must have been a real headache - espeially if the rope broke...
Apparently, supplies of stone were never a problem, it was a lack of tools which made the job so much harder and longer.
I love the colour of those pieces in you photo, Thud, I suspect they just glow in an evening sun!
