True Brit 4

Orde Wingate gave his life in the fight against Japan whilst leading his famous chindit troops in Burma. A difficult man he alienated as many fellow soldiers as he impressed, with his ideas on irregular warfare. Before Burma he also clashed with the British establishment as he trained and led Jewish fighters in a pre state of Israel, Holy land.Orde wingate was a quintessential British eccentric and a British warrior through and through.
