True Brit 11

In my current euphoric state caused by exposure to the (in Britain) mythical sun here in California, this weeks Brit is of a trans Atlantic origin. Sir Hiram Maxim was the inventor of the worlds first truly efficient machine gun amongst many other things. The gun was used to great effect by Britain's troops in policing the Empire( a great episode in our history) and deterring would be evil doers.I think Iran and other nations should take note...the west may appear weak but when truly threatened we tend to come up with rather clever and nasty ways in which to make our enemies history. I have a distinct feeling that in the next few years quite a few neosocialist and islamo nutters are going to meet a hopefully grisly end courtesy of inventors and engineers here in the west following in sir Hiram's footsteps. I suppose the goat loving warriors of the mighty mo could whilst viewing our shameless women etc be forgiven for believing that we are decadent and ripe for conquest...wrong!...we are just taking a break from the process of making the world inhospitable to savages...the normal programme will soon be resumed...better duck Ahmed.

I hope you are right, because whether WE believe we're in a war or not, THEY certainly believe we are in one.

Er, um, Thud, Heinz is an American company. Unless you Brits have snuck in and bought them recently. Which would be no surprise. We're doing our best to sell it to every other country.
As for the super weapon, we've already got it. Just need the nerve to use it.

Maxim also made great silencers! What a great fellow and a sterling example to follow.
