The wicked wind.

The weather forecast for this weekend is for high winds and as I live on a peninsula jutting out into the Irish sea that means trouble. When the wind comes across the Atlantic and whips over Liverpool bay, then the lighthouse pictured above will see some even fiercer waves than shown. A quick trip to the seafront at Leasowe or New Brighton can quickly illustrate just how dangerous and seemingly hostile nature can be....a weekend of open fires and good red wine I think.

Lighthouses are beautiful...even with terrible weather and dangerous seas. :)

Isn't the Mersey great on a windy day?
There's no place like home.

How many lives will be lost this next few days by people playing 'dodge the wave'.... and losing.
How many will dive into the sea to save silly yappy dogs and drown as the dog gets back to shore.
Darwin working at its best.

I had planned to go fishing today....

It's a pity they automated lighthouses, would be OK for a grumpy old bugger like me who likes fishing..... and dislikes crowds.

I used to live off Seabank Road on the way into new Brighton..oh happy days...young and in love with a whole future of dreams and aspirations ahead of me. We used to walk along the 'prom' every Sunday morning to the Lighthouse and Port Perch Rock...No resposibilities then..Hey ho!
