Desert Wellies.

My earliest memories of my ex soldier/policeman father are of him being in uniform. The first memory of him I have of him in 'civies' is of him wearing Clarks desert boots. As soon as I was old enough I bought my first pair (after borrowing my big sisters!) and wore them proudly whilst all around, tottered precariously on various vertiginous platforms etc. I have only recently started to become aware again of these subtly English shoes with their air of Monty at Alamein and have decided to purchase a new pair...in my fathers footsteps indeed.

Any thoughts on buying Birkenhead town hall as it's up for sale, very nice building fairly new only dates back to 1840's had a couple of fires during it's time and was partly rebuilt after a fire in 1900ish

An old retired Seaforth Highlander friend of mine has worn nothing but desert boots for twenty years.

Doubtless reminds him of the 8th Army.

Standard Mod gear around here in the 60`s.
Just taken to them again , probably because my youngest son has just bought a Vespa and thinks he has a monopoly on `cool`.
Hah!
Purple Hearts anyone ? See you in Brighton ,if I can only find where he`s hidden the dam keys !

Would you wear those on a tractor? Walk amongst the cows? Run across a field in the rain? Better buy a good suede brush.

REMEMBER THE DESERT BOOTIES WELL, ALSO, ON FROM ANONYMOUS'S NOTE. I REMEMBER BIRKENHEAD TOWN HALL WITH GREAT FONDNESS, AS WE ORGANISED AN INTERNATIONAL CARTOON FESTIVAL THERE ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, GREAT OLD PLACE. STILL NO BABY 'OVER THE WATER' SURFACING JUST YET?
