My search for a new house in England is finally over and not a moment too soon. The house is bigger than I wanted but does have land and more importantly cottages,coach house and gate lodge in need of major restoration. The house seems to date from late 1700's with a mid Victorian addition complete with lots of architectural mysteries to solve....all in all a fantastic place with enough work to keep the chaps and I busy for several years to come,something that I will heavily blog once the legal stuff is finished and I get to start work.Now I just have to find a suitable Californian property,negotiate as good a deal as we did here and I can happily work away till I drop...lovely stuff!

One down,one to go.

Thud, love the photo on your possible 1700's project. Please do keep blogging in regard to the progress shots. I have been in constuction over 35 years and just love the before and after pictures.
TTC....I'll cover in detail I hope plus it helps with problems that will no doubt arise as it is 5 years since my last major renovation.

Question, are there any fruit trees?
Guess who isn't going to have any free weekends the next few years?...you!....20+ fruit trees at last count and I have another dozen on order.....as for the vines ...I can't wait.
Let's get this straight I only found this place and didn't pick it,therefore if things don't go right in your estimated 7 years to get things straight then please don't take my name in vain :-),your on,been past a few times this week it looks a bit forlorn and sad ,I think it needs a couple of little terrors running around it to liven it up,Monkey, Thud has a neighbour with a lot of cows and horses but others are bit further away,still waiting to see that sign taken down.
So you have the gatehouse as well,nice one it all fits in as one place,the place at one time 1988 I think had a Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside ensconced in it,so it must have had quite a few other names in it's history.
Anon...I'll post when all the legal stuff is over and we can fix up a visit...you will laugh when you see the work that needs doing.It's a fascinating place no doubt,I'm meeting the lever estate manager next week to get more info.

I have a sneaking suspicion the good lady wife will be applying for a shotgun license plus my longbow yearnings will get a work out.
