Deep freeze

As the cold spell deepens it has thrown up a few challenges to getting on with work at a rather exposed and chilly site. The workies and I have just dressed accordingly and whilst working we are warmer than we usually are on an average wet and windy winters day. Materials however are behaving rather differently.Drying times for various gyproc products, resins and paint are unknowable, whilst frozen sand presents mortar making with a problem we have not yet solved. The bright blue sky and crisp air have left us all feeling rather energised so we are tackling the more physically demanding jobs of framing and general demolition (some 1960's additions) Moving rather heavy but delicate lengths of newly delivered plaster coving across an increasingly slippy courtyard into the coach house was completed this afternoon only after several of us made harder contact with the snow than we wished.

Watch out for injuries otherwise you'll never get finished!

I'm amazed you've got any pug to work at all!

I've found that the recycled paper blocks I've been making (for the chimnea) dry out much faster in sub-zero.
