Elf & safety

As you can see from the pic we don't do health and safety on our job although we do try to cut through the bough on the correct side....crazed or stupid...you decide.

Careful, trees in winter get slippery! My dad used to go up and trim a big-old Acacia tree that stood by my folks' house. If one of its heavy limbs let go it would have crashed through to the basement. Finally it got sick and had to come down, so he had it sawn into long planks of thick boards - so he could make furniture out of it. Lovely grain if you polish it up.

I didn't realise how many elfunsafty bits of kit were necessary until one of those trade mags dropped from the letter box.

It all cost more than the chainsaw...

Interesting that Dirts, I got this to see what you meant!

Very nice it is too! Thanks!

There's an old yew behind The Turrets, and occasionally the odd brach gets thinned out and it is amazing how strong and workable it is - even the thin stuff!

I understand that turning yew is probably the best job in woodwork!
