Spandrel 1

Over the last few days the usual pattern of rainy weather has returned and so some of the outdoor work has been rather intermittent. One of the jobs I was able to tend to whilst avoiding the hated rain was forming the moulds for the plaster spandrels. As can be seen I managed to make a half decent attempt which considering I do not have an artistic bone in my body wasn't too poor an effort...I think.

Nice one Cyril,is that set up as the reverse and you pour the plaster in and let it dry or do you make a rubber type mould from that, going to Mold market today nothing much but if the cheese guy is there is Cheshire/Lancashire/Welsh cheeses are nice.

Most of "art" is really just some geometry heaped on symmetry anyhow, despite whatever Miro and Picasso did to figures. You take the Golden Mean and make the spiral - it's all the same stuff, basically a reflection of Nature's random order and the closer adherence to the reflection, the more beautiful.

DirtCrashr you must be a wow at parties deflating all those baloons,I guess you must be a lawyer or heaven help us a politician, now tell Thud he has done well or he will sulk all day :-)

Typical woman is Vinogirl doesn't see the "art" but who is going to clean off the table, now if big sis said that to me I would be right upset.

Excellent job Squire Thud. I take it that you will cast a master mould from the clay original and cast the spandrels from the master. Good luck. I found the Youtube videos and other resources produced by www.freemansupply.com very useful when starting to learn casting.

Er, I'm a graphic artist - or was. Sorry I thought it was a compliment, dressing-down the snooty turtleneck Artworld crowd. I like Thud's handiwork very much - and skill and handiwork is what is missing from so much of today's "Art" - it's as though the Left has invented a cereberal that's all about the deconstructionist vocabulary of art with none of the joyous effects.
