How many will remember it?

There have been some elegant programmes on TV - not least of which was Geoffrey Wellum's 'First Light'. But as history gets written with the benefit of hindsight (ie, was Leigh-Mallory's plan so much better than Dowding's? Was Keith Park really a great tactician or just a pilot?), one fact remains: the RAF had about 700 frontline fighters available at the start, and a load of mainly young kids to fly them. If they hadn't fought the Luftwaffe to its knees, we would mow all be writing this in German. Could today's kids do it? I dunno.....

Affer,Kev...I'd like to think there are still enough of us with a love of England that would enable us to perform as our fathers and grandfathers did.

God Bless 'em and thank 'em, that's quite a sight - and enough reason to never at the end of a sentence your verb put. Dammit German is the language from hell (and next to Russian with its 6-different cases).
