Deep freeze.

On the school run this morning I stopped and photographed one of the diminishing number of telephone kiosks. As much as I love their Englishness I must admit the ubiquity of a mobile(cell) phone combined with a warm car is a big step up from trying to have a conversation in what is in this case a rather smelly freezer.....mind you I would have to remember to charge the battery of my phone first.

Nothing a good swilling out with a bottle of Dettol wouldn't fix. Great pic, makes me homesick though.

Pre-cell phone days, the need for calls from one of those boxes was always discovered about 150 miles away from a) a shop where I could buy some fags, and b) a public loo.

Frank Muir once said that when you approached one of those boxes, you always found yourself walking round at least four sides before you found the door...
