Riddle of the sands
Rejoice! rejoice! the Pharaoh has fallen, all will be well or at least that's what The Guardian and the rest of the lefty world reckon....me? I'm pretty sure it will end in tears for all of us.
My boyfriend has mused that if the extremists had to destroy those ancient Buddhas in 2000(? 2001?), then how long before they level the Sphinx? I am alive to the prospect that things could get much better, but my inner pragmatist keeps saying that the spoils always go to the ones most willing to be ruthless. Heaven help us all. Or heaven help us to help ourselves.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best...
We need to wait until next week to assess the real damage I'm afraid.
So many other Arab names to come out of the woodwork and start a roll - and then Israel will start jumping about.
It is going to be a real can of worms, no doubt about it.
As if the Army believes in democracy now that they are in control.
