Down in a hole
The evil extension on the gate lodge has now gone and has been replaced with an expensive hole in the ground. The new sandstone extension will be about 45% bigger and so the next job is starting the groundwork for the larger footings and founds. Hopefully we have seen the last of the really bad weather and I will be able to get on with the groundwork without working in what could become a muddy swimming pool. I met with the architect this morning and we decided to go with an insulated suspended wooden floor instead of block and beam that we had considered. Now that we have knocked down and ripped out we can finally start putting the place back together, my favourite phase of any job is watching a build come to life off a screen or piece of paper.
