All things must pass.

Summer in California for the OTW family is rapidly coming to a close and thoughts turn to a return to a wet, windy England. The shops here fill more and more with autumn (fall) goods, with the smells of pumpkin spice reminding of the changes to come. Escaping from what I read is England's coldest summer for 20 years was a great idea after the pretty dire winter we had and I can only hope we have stored up some warmth for the coming slog this winter. If I sound a bit down I suppose I am as the little OTW girls and boy have had a few weeks of absolute freedom and now a colder reality and environment beckons. The few dry autumn days ahead coupled with wholesome English food do however promise some joys plus the prospect of a great fruit crop means lots of fun for the little ones as we crush and bottle the resulting avalanche of apples, damsons, quince and plums. So its time for one last round of California sun and then its blighty here we come.

the thought of having to eat pumpkin in any form would drive me away too.........
have our colonial friends never figured out why the native americans gave them turkey and pumpkin ?

both are inedible.

" England's coldest summer for 20 years "

We keep hearing this on Al Beeb, but really, it hasn't been at all bad down here in Kent!

There have been some super days of sunshine, all joined together, and we've had very little rain as well!

For the first time in many years, Scrobs has had such a brown physique, that nobody recognises me any more, and I'm invisible...

Scrobs....I only count the north as England!
Haddock...to my surprise I've found that pumpkinseed spiced brittle is rather good.

In which case then when the bastards in Brussels make us North Fecking France, you'll be part of Iceland South, and owe Kent County Council squillions of splonders!

That'll screw the roads budget round here for a few years to come...;0)

I'd stay where you are in that magical lovely part of the US country; those barge boards were primed (weren't they), so they'll wait...!

Scrobs, when the wind comes whistling in from the Irish sea it pretty much feels at least baltic if not icelandic.

Don't know what your complaining about, apart from heavy rain and thunder and lightning few evenings ago with local roads flooded and a warm westerley turning in a cold cloudy rainy north westerly all is ok, Chester today was full of foreign visitors walking around the walls and taking photos, Thurstaston this evening the caravan club site is full of visitors all taking there dogs to crap on the Wirral way, so stop getting miserable at the thought of coming back to the UK hell hole and take your punishment, in other words no change uuup north then innit.
