The Duke

As a Christian I am encouraged occasionally when faced by difficult people or situations to ask myself "what would Jesus do?" in the hope that Christian charity/humility will help me overcome whatever problem I face. I'm afraid however I'm not that good a Christian and have been forced to adopt a more suitable "what would john Wayne do?" attitude to lifes trials and tribulations. Given that John Wayne treated awkward people with his default modes of Scorn, punch or shoot I feel given my own slightly twisted personality that I'm well covered...so pilgrim thats it then.... WWJWD?

If you're lucky enough to have the rules set down when you're a kid, then it's not too difficult.

Problem is that a) the rules aren't noticed, and b) some kids don't get that advantage.

I was once asked during Trivial Persuit "What did John Wayne say in the film The Greatest Story Ever Told ?"

The film was about Jesus and John Wayne was playing the part of a Centurian at the foot of the cross. My answer ?

"Get off your cross an' drink ya milk."

I heard a story about John Wayne in that film Electro-Kevin mentioned. The Duke said his line "Truly this man was the Son of God" and the director asked for another take of the scene, asking Wayne to say his line with more awe. Next take he drawled "Awwww", paused then "Truly this man was the Son of God".

I reckon John Wayne would have been at least as good a President as Ronald Reagan.
