Fired up

I fired up a fire in one of the rooms with a rebuilt stack today....no flames seem to be coming out of the chimney and the room isn;t filled with smoke...result!

I wish I could be in front of that fire, with a mug of hot chocolate in hand, right now!

Wow the panelling in that room is incredibly beautiful, looks like something out of Sherlock Holmes!

Mrs Albert says what a lovely job, the furniture and the rug really set the fireplace up, nice and cosy and warm looking, I say reluctantly I have to agree, I still reserve the right to find fault :-), last time we were in that room it was full of boxes.

Glad you're "relaxing", Thud.

I'm worried about vinogirl. With her knowledge of wine (and doubtless a decent cellar), she see's a roaring fire in a panelled drawing room as a vehicle for 'a mug of hot chocolate'.

Pah! A bottle of Pol Roger and a box of those fabulous Roka Cheese Crispies, or a bottle of something robust; syrah, probably.

Idle,VG lives ina world of alcohol so I think the hot chocolate in her case would come as welcome relief, I will settle for a large calvados.

We have the same sofas.

Our fire is ... electric. It's amazing just how effective a strip light in a red rolling tube can be. Especially after 5 bottles of Old Peculiar.

(The new house has no fire in it. We may get a log burner and flu fitted.)

Kev...multi fuel burner is a good idea and if you have a source of free lofs a financial winner...don't your lot cut down trees over lines all the time?

I've just noticed a rogue apostrophe in my earlier comment (see's) and I want you to know that I am horrified by it. It can't have been me; a computer grammar check thingy, I expect.

Apologies.

Idle, perhaps it was the Pol Roger, Mr Churchill would have approved of the drink but perhaps not of the grammar.

only four stockings... who's Santa spotted being naughty this year ?

Thud said...

Haddock, that would be me as I'm pretty low on the pecking order here.

Oh, OK then, twist my arm. Pol Roger it is!

I thought it might be a good idea to let that fire out before you all go to Midnight Mass to avoid singeing Santa Claus. Then I remembered that Thud Towers has a wide choice of chimneys for such an eventuality. The room looks great but won't the fire melt the chocolate bars on the walls?

Brian...its a big and bloody cold room!

That looks incredibly fine! A person could seriously have a nice pint there while cleaning guns...
