Take a leaf

We started work on the gates for the driveway this week. As I can't draw for toffee we made up a mock gate leaf out of some scraps we had around. Now that we have an idea how all the metal work (blacksmith made plus some salvaged from a church in Jersey) fits in we have started to make up the various components in hardwood. Each leaf is 6ft wide and some of the wood four inches thick, combined with the metalwork  the resulting gates are going to be bloody heavy. The motors for the gates have been set into the ground with a grano and granite surround and if I can figure out how the buggers work and attach them to the gates then the gates, pillars and gatelodge will finally be finished....slow but sure, thats me.

Haven't you finished yet, you really are a slow coach, I thought you were rebuilding the Bothy next month.

Somehow, Thud, your designs seem way beyond the simple stuff knocked out by the dross manufacturers!

I just love this design, please make them!

The curved strut (top right) looks like it would be difficult to do.

(I like Ms Vexel btw)

Squire Thud,
That is a gate indeed. It will keep elephants out. Will it be stained or painted?
