Up until my kids started school fulltime 3 years back I was able to spend 4 months a year at our home in California.Time passes however and the demands of life here in England meant selling up and settling into village life with all its quirks and foibles. As much as I love my life I just cant stop thinking about how just a short time ago I could escape the interminable wet windy weather here pretty much whenever I wished...moan moan moan! I do intend to buy again in America at some not too future point as I find myself constantly surprised just how much I miss everyday life there. So as a sop to my feelings we have just arranged a seven week stay this coming summer, so sod the no doubt coming wet spring....sun this summer is guaranteed!

Good post, Thud.
Maybe a time to reflect that, yes, it's great OTW, but I believe as you're 'English - Irish, sorry, I don't know)', but with similar lovely family over there, the grass is always greener...
Perhaps, when you get to my age, (silly old sod at 68), and you need to think about another something like another car, (as we have to just today), the ideal is to stay with your first motive, and be the man who actually has done more with a superb building (and a life and even a car), than many of our ilk, who haven't even done a super prog on Youtube like yours)!
It ain't easy getting there, but by God, it's a challenge worth doing and thinking about every day!
Scrobs, all true I hope! I'm resigned to staying here as I realised that as much as I love America and my family there "I am as popeye said what I am!" and that's a Liverpool irish Englishman...a bit of a mix but an American I could never be.I went for a drive down in Cheshire today to start the long process of looking for perhaps a new project,we shall see,
Here we go every year the eternal dream, America, when your little one's are old enough and all are away at uni you will have lots of time to make your dream come true, but like everything in life something always comes up, I hadn't realised you were looking for another project , I thought you had retired, that didn't last long, have you had a look around the Chirk area for "projects"
albert....what can I say I'm a closet sepo! The process of another project is something that can take ma as long as a couple of years so we will see,Did you get my email?
I guarantee good weather for you this summer...easy in California!
Favourite movie: Zulu?
Favourite Music: Richie Blackmore?
Hmmmmmm..........
There might be some potential here.
".......A bit of a distraction but quite funny so why ban,it will probably get bored anyway......."
Thank you for the first part of your sentence, but then came your comma and the proviso.....
I'm gutted..
Et tu Brute?
I'd have thought you are made of sterner stuff!
Nyuck!
A girl's got needs though. Innit?
I feel badly for Raedwald, and folks such as your good self, y'all cannot really acknowledge my humour without thoroughly demoralizing and/or evoking the rage of the incumbent pack of toadies. You took a huge chance with your comment acknowledging that I might actually be funny. It is nice to know that at least two people understood my crap.
Just goes to show the utter futility of attempting to disrupt the pecking order in certain well settled Blog Wank-Circles.
I've no idea who or what you are but you do upset the Raedwald folk which is fine as it gives them pause in their hero worshipping of Putin and general moaning and whingeing,if you are funny then good if not then who cares? as for being just some poor little Asian lass...well I'm surrounded by them even at breakfast so nothing new there.
You are surrounded by 'poor little Asian' lasses(lassies?) Why don't you give them some money then? Selfish brute!
Poor! I wish, its like a fashion parade here.
Fashion?
