Brexit?

I have purposely not posted on the subject of our possible exit from the E.U. as I am long past arguing politics with anyone either in person or via the internet.I will vote and I must admit to being rather torn between what my heart says and what my head tells me is right.Whatever the result I will accept it with no rancour as I'm sure we will continue to flourish as a great nation and I'll try to do my little bit to contribute to our future....that's my only comment on this subject.

For those torn then abstension is a perfectly good stance.

I would say to anyone voting remain that in order to do so intelligently they ought to know the characters, parties, institutions and mechanisms of the EU at least as well as British politics.

A respectable position can be found for both remain or leave and I accept that some in our country draw benefit from EU membership so will vote remain. But they must be familiar with QMV, the process for objection to Commission proposals, the top-down nature of the legislature (as opposed to our own), the election (or not) of Presidents and their powers.

I tried to join the EU S&D Party a few weeks back but found that this is not open to grass roots membership. There is no application form. They have not responded to repeated emails from me.

We should be able to participate as easily as we can in, say, our own Tory or Labour parties and any person voting for the EU should be at least as enthusiastic and familiar about each EU party, their aims and their leaders.

They should also know that they actually do nothing, and nor does the EU Parliament except amend law dicated by the Commission.

If you know these things and accept them and vote for the EU then fine. If not (and I don't know which way you'll vote, Thud) then you've not used your head at all.

If we Remain then on the 24th the distinction between British parties will be an irrelevance.

We may as well give up thinking about politics, let alone talking about it.

Far from being a force for unity the EU has the country split down the middle. In fact it has individual people split down the middle !

The question is very simple, in fact. It is this:

Do you want to abolish the British government or do you want to abolish the EU government ?

Though they pretend that we can have both the reality is that we can't. If we vote Remain then they will continue with two governments for sure, to keep up pretences. But one will be completely superior to the other and the other an irrelevence except to give the impression of home rule and demos.

Kev,I'm worn down from being always pissed off by events so trying to live my life with as little interference from this bollocks as possible but I understand how you can be so involved in the issue,

Until Thursday.

Thereafter I will no longer be involved, either way.
