Creaky

As in most of the UK the weather has been atrocious for months and so because of the last 6 weeks very wet weather I have been instead of building....gardening! something I hate. With the promise of fairer weather to come however I fired up my increasingly creaky knees and got stuck into some demo and digging footings. On the agenda for this summer is a couple of small but interestingly detailed walls plus replacing 14 windows with very heavy hardwood double glazed units along with sandstone cills plus reroofing over kids bedrooms....it had better be sunny.

I'm glad that you seem to have decided to stay there Thud.

I'm seventy, and have drawn back from having too many new projects, and am concentrating on making all the other ones I've been doing a complete result, rather than a huge burst then a constant patch up.

That's a lovely building (seen the plans on the council website:0), and I still envy/admire what you've achieved!

Such talen! You'd love New Hampshire! Well, maybe not the tax man, he'd wait outside your house with binoculars, and we actually have a 'view tax!

The guy that built my house turned up today at 11am (feels like 2am to me - on nights) Rang the bell incessantly.

"Do you know I'm on nights ?"

"I built this house. I built this house. Bought the plot when I was living next door and moved in. Cost me £9000 45 years ago."

"OK. Do you want a cup of tea ?" (hoping to get some info about my house.)

"No. NO. I'm going now. MUSE used to live there."

I don't know what his point was. Some old senile ? Or some nasty old man trying to rub my nose in it on how much I'd paid compared to him.

Turns out the latter from what the lovely old lady next door said to me. He's a nasty old man.

Gardening is OK if you don't have to bend over. My knees are fine but my back isn't!
