Brushing up

The wind whips straight across my fields from the Irish sea and I do mean whip. As a result the back of the house takes a real hammering and the useless waterproof paint I use nowadays (thanks EU....water based outdoor paint....bollocks!) only lasts a couple of years and so this week in what maybe our last glimpse of the sun I got out my 'big' brush and got busy......ahhhh the joys of home ownership.

Exterior paint is crap now, eh ?

I'm three storeys and a gable at the back (two at the front) and I'm up on a hired in ladder (tied on) and shitting myself.

I wonder how much this has cost in NHS bills.

I first did it off a scaffold three years ago when I did the fascias and guttering but I'm buggered if I'm hiring that in again just to do a paint job.

I have slopes down the sides which makes everything difficult.

I can see the appeal of a bungalow.

For the first time ever, we paid for a painter to do up the woodwork on The Turrets. One week later, we were Dulux Weathershielded and pretty damn well!

Poor you with the weather though, I have a chum further up the coast from you, and the walls just soak up rainwater like a sponge.

I hate ladders, and have just remembered that I have lent mine to a chum and haven't got it back yet...
