Victory!

My Mum who passed recently would have loved to have been around today as her memories of this day 75 years ago were quite vivid. For her and many more today is a day of personal triumphs and for those of us who came later a day of family history coming to life. My mums brothers returned home safely and a little girls knew her life was going to be one unthreatened by rationing and potential death from above....we are going to celebrate with a big bonfire in her memory today....it was a victory both large and small.

Brother of noble thoughts, throw a log on that fire for me.

Your Mum would have known all this...

Rotten time for your area, so I bet she really enjoyed some sort of normality afterwards, and of course, 'The Bothy' became just that!

Well done that Man!

Wish I still had mum to reminisce with about that period in history. That generation could show people nowadays a thing or two.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. My Dad died in March last year and it set me reeling.
Thank goodness for the gritty, tough people of England who showed the world the meaning of dignity, grace, and determination. Vinogirl is not wrong that we all can learn a lot from those folks. They got on with it and didn't simply crumple under the hideous grief and fear of a war that was brought to their doorsteps.
Again, my condolences to you and to your family. I wish your Mum could have joined you for that wonderful bonfire, but through you, she lives on. Blessings to all who love and miss her.
