Italian style.

Whilst here in California I have been following European news through the innertube as TV news here is not European friendly as a rule. The events in Italy are of particular interest as I think Italy is ahead of the rest of Europe in facing up to the problems that the years of open borders has wrought. Much of the media is raising the cry of "fascism"....raising the spectre of a resurgent Mussolini style movement sweeping Italy. To me it just seems like Italians putting Italy and its inhabitants first......a novel concept it seems in these days of the European superstate. I don't believe that Italy is hounding people who have contributed to Italian society...just the mass of those who have fastened on to Italy as a way to fund their criminal lifestyle. If that makes me a fascist then....well then I must be...oh dear! I just hope as most fashionable Italian trends, this new sense of national identity sweeps the rest of Europe....forza Italia!...or whatever it is.....I'm English so maybe I should stick with...Well done chaps.

Nine out of ten journalists probably haven't the slightest clue what fascism is, other than anything they don't like. Hell, a lot of them probably can't even spell it right without a spellchecker.

It is, I believe, inevitable. History works in cycles and sooner or later there is always a backlash. The trick, for politicians, is to recognise it's approach, ride upon it and keep it from becoming extreme. Sadly as most politicians seem to keep their brain up their arse I don't hold out much hope.

(On a sidenote, since starting this comment my eyes have been drifting down to the 'word verification' thingy below, trying desperately to work out what the bloody letters are and how many attempts it is going to take me to get them right. Reminds me why I hate commenting on blogger!)
