Slow motion

Liverpool's new canal link from Leeds to the Pierhead was opened today and I am shocked to say that for once the council may have spent money wisely.Britain's canal network is one of our relatively unsung treasures and rightly deserves to be renovated and further exploited. The combination of industrial history and ability to slowly traverse the countryside makes canal travel surely one of the more civilised ways to take in the beauties of Britain.

The thought that Liverpool city council are capable of any form of widom, just defies the imagination, doesn't it?
