One of the disadvantages of having two babies in the house is as any parent will state, the lack of sleep.Being awake and perhaps sitting next to a restless little one at 4 in the morning isn't a rare occurence for most parents. I tend to spend the time mulling over problems to be solved and sometimes just staring at the jewel like perfection of a sleeping baby. The last few weeks have however been made even more pleasurable by the presence in a nearby tree, of a blackbird.A still relatively common denizen of suburban gardens the blackbird due to its sombre colouration never gets any real acclaim or recognition. The song however of a lone blackbird on an English summer morning is a joy to behold and for me is one of lifes greatest if modest treasures.
