Christmas tipple 1.

Vinogirl, using her wine industry discount has managed to provide me with a couple of bottles of Far Niente Cabernet, for me one of the finest Napa valley wines I have tasted. In England the shelf of American wines in nearly all outlets both large and small is nearly always rather pitiable, just a random selection of rather inferior products. In Napa however the shops are packed with the thousands of wines available, many of them far superior to much available from the usual over priced suspects (hello premier cru's). The overall high alcohol level and general robust qualities do sometimes mask the immediate subtleties but in all they are more than worth the effort. Far Niente in particular produce a Cabernet that will this festive season grace the OTW family table both in California and England...cheers!

Thudders, you are psychic!

Mrs S was complaining just an hour ago - quite rightly as it happens, that all we have on the rack is Corbieres, which we both like, and Claret, which we also like!

I'm tasked with providing some Cabernet pretty damn quickly to balance the racks, and so we'll take your advice and go for it next time we're faced with a few shelves of the Napa Valley!

Thanks for the tip!

looks like a tasty tipple, i think i can try to match a bottle for christmas as im sure its a legal requirment to have more than one decent wine over the festive period.

Australia's its main rival.

Does it rival 'The Grapes of Groth'?
