Super scousers

I do love this headline, who would ever have thought my fellow scousers could ever be sitting on the source of so much potential wealth....I may move back or maybe not.

Do you really think they will import gas to Liddypool,when the Morecombe gas fields already feed into North Wales Point of Air gas cleaning plant and a pipeline that feeds a gas generator plant at Connah's Quay and a pipeline to a Gas Generator plant at Frodsham and all those wind mills in Liverpool Bay just off Leasowe where does the power go to from them,give you a guess,watched the drilling rigs and those vehicle ground thumpers years ago around Wirral,even the oil from a small well at Chester is exported so I believe,the nearest coal mines to Liverpool were at St Helens/Burtonwood area,over this side Neston and in welsh Wales Point of Air/Wrexham,now all gone,built upon,little Texas Liddypool ain't gonna be

There where many more collieries in liverpool than are commonly known,my homeground Huyton had several in quite a small area.

It is all very well having all this gas around. We are not on mains gas although we can almost see the gas pipe supplying the Wirral. We have oil fired central heating and are otherwise all electric apart from our log fires.

Cheshire wife... we also rely on oil and logs,the price of the oil rather worries me.

It could be worse Thud, you may finish up with yet another wind farm!

Now that really is a gross waste of money!

The have just installed gas rig in widnes that i pass every day on the train and it supplies energy for up to 40000 homes, its a tiny plant compared to fiddlers ferry that supplies for 4 million.

self sustainable eco warrior hmm

Water central heating here.

I have it on good authority that the gas is the result of the capping of the Knotty Ash Treacle mine following Dickie Mint's retirement after a personal injury jackpot from a dodgy paving slab. Anyone who's had a tin of black tracle explode in a cupboard in a hot summer will appreciate the potential peril Liverpool faces if the Diddy Men aren't put back to work.

gallimaufry,mick the marmaliser,diddyman enforcer will be giving you a visit as diddymen are touchy about work related slander....beware the tickling stick.

@a, how tattyfalarious!

Gallimaufry... Knotty ash was a stones throw from my birthplace and when passing through in my fathers car I kept my nose firmly pressed against the window in expectation of Diddymen. Ken dodd was and still is a common sight in the area when going about his daily business but to a child it ment much more....I'm still looking.

Thud.... I too visited Knotty Ash as a child on a family holiday - I was delighted that the place actually existed (although sadly not as I had imagined) and was very lucky to have Diddymen wallpaper in my bedroom as a seven year old. 38 years on I reckon it's time for a change but can't decide between Star Wars and Dr Who.
I think Ken Dodd should be knighted as he is an unique comedy genius.
