Split rail

On the way into town for breakfast this morning I stopped off to take a shot of this split rail fence. A simple and attractive looking style of fencing it is to my eye both effective and very American . I have quite a bit of fencing to replace and renew at home but as much as I might be tempted to replicate the above I think it would look a bit alien in the English landscape (unless somebody can show me otherwise) plus my neighbouring Frisians would I think make short work of it.

I did a similar thing and a box corral fence, if you know it, which you will, being a builder. Good use of the wood and gives an open feel to the barrier.

Look alien. Is that meant to be friesians (Horses) or frisians (Germans). Horses and girls will like I think.

I like it...I think it may translate well...in a tiny corner of OTW!

I like it as well, stunningly different. Trouble with here in UK it would be viewed as 'taking up too much precious space'

L8 Teener - In UK Friesians are black and white cows - I think (!)

how about a bit of dry stone walling that should keep the udders out.

I would have thought that a fence 'not nailed down' would be seen as an affront and a direct challenge by scousers..... there would be a trail of scallies.... like ants on a foraging trip....leading back to the nest in a nearby estate.

Haddock...I could take 0f'fence' at that...sorry! Mrs OTW's application for a shotgun licence should take care of my brother scallies as we can see the buggers in their track suits coming from miles off.
