Choc a block

Lent is only a few days old and already I am suffering from chocolate withdrawal symptoms. Strangely the chocolate I am missing, a coffee walnut whip, is unfortunately no longer made...worse luck. In an interesting aside, walnut whips once featured in a notorious attempted murder case...chocolate with a pedigree it seems. Upon reflection a coffee walnut whip does seem worth doing some evil deed for......I have a problem!

Coffee Walnut Whips !

One of my favourites too.

I've had cravings in the past for Double Deckers, Whispa bars and RED Bounties.

Blue Bounties do not do it for me at all and this is understandable as the difference is between sickly sweet milk chocolate and bitter dark chocolate.

Curiously though, I had a colleague who loved Penguines but could not abide the ones in green wrappers.

Go figure.

Did you have to do that? Now I'll have to go out and buy some Toblerone.

Squire Thud, Nestles no longer make Coffe flavour. However, if you're desperate you could make a mould using food grade silicone. Pour in and sloosh around good cook's chocolate to cover sides. Once cool and out of mould inject through small hole in top a mixture of marshmallow fluff and v strong coffee. Dab melted chocolate on underside of walnut half and place on top. Try to make at least one more before you eat the first to check quality. Putting a walnut inside like the original Duncan's and Mackintosh's is a bit trickier. But nothing beyond your transferable modelling skills.

I confess I keep a stack of German Ritter bars in my desk. Dark chocolate with hazlenuts. Mmmm. I probably eat a quarter a bar a day, but it gets me through the baloney-factory. As coping mechanisms go, I feel nary a whiff of guilt for it!
