To dig or not to dig.

The planning of the next stage in rebuilding the various houses dotted around the property here is now well under way with the heating and insulation being in the forefront of the design considerations. Ground source, air source, oil fired (argh!) all being in contention or perhaps a combination of one of those plus multi fuel stove. We do have a tennis court that would be perfect for digging up and installing the pipes for ground source heating and given my family history of non sporting prowess it may provide the optimum solution. I also like the bore hole option but it is not an option with any wriggle room for input by anybody other than specialists....damn those specialists!

Husband has hankered after solar panels but I have said no to having those ugly things on the roof of our Victorian cottage.

We have solar panels (unbelievably expensive!!!) and for some reason they do not pay for all the heating. Its some weird charging thing they have here. I am not a tennis player either.

I probably would have put on solar panels, if we could get some of the payback as they show now.

Unfortunately, we'd never get the £5,000 back now, so I'm afraid all those leaflets we get make a good fire...

Ground het is a great way forward though, I like your ideas Thudders!
