shrooms

I'm not a great lover of plants although like most Englishmen I do take some pride in having a garden that is at least tidy if not a botanical tour de force. This year my lawns and bits of woodland have thrown up a rather large and varied crop of mushrooms which the kids and I have been hunting down every morning in a game they seem to enjoy that  involves finding new varieties,we are up to about 30 now.The problem now is I have not the foggiest what type we have ....any of you clever folks know anything about shrooms?

No, but they look great to me!

You can take them to any chemist, who will know which ones you can use, and also which ones you can't...

Beware though, as a chum used to go to a specialised restaurant in London, where they used to dish up all sorts of fungi. The owner explained that the worst sort could destroy your liver three days after eating it...

Well I'm a chemist and I haven't a clue about them; maybe you mean a pharmacist.

But even taking that for granted, is this actually true in the UK? I know it's true in Italy, but here?

Scrobs,WY, the only ones I recognise are the magic ones the hippies hunt at dawn in Liverpools Sefton park, the Chinese side of the family has chemists on board I'll ask them.

As a general rule of thumb (and I get a lot of different 'shrooms in Vinoland), don't eat them unless you bought them in a supermarket. Fungi can be tricky little things (although that big puffball last June was OK). You don't eat veggies anyway, so just throw them in the compost bin.

Good photies, BTW!

Just checking around, WY, you're right of course, I did mean a pharmacist, and have also seen that they don't do this service in the UK either!

Sorry Thud...

Thud...?

Are you OK...?

Crikey! I haven't a clue, do hope you didn't eat them?

On reflection you couldn't have as I've just been reading a later
post.
Surely there must be somebody around where you live who specialises in fungi.
brings to mind a corny joke about the mushroom who wouldn't go out with his mates....
One mushroom said to the other mushroom, 'I don't know what's wrong with him of late, he used to be such a 'fun guy'!
Boom boom!

The one with the 'warts' looks like our deadly Panther amanita (don't even smell it).
