Mr.President

A visit to the Jelly belly factory yesterday made my kids very happy which as any parent knows means a happy parent so good result all round. While the kids ooohed and ahhhed at the bean making process and then stuffed their faces I took the time to check out the President Reagan memorabilia which given his long relationship with the company was quite comprehensive. As a political child of the eighties I was expected to hate Reagan along with Mrs Thatcher but I didn't.There was always something about him I admired and his love of Jelly beans is now added to my list.....God bless Ronnie.

He was a great President and a lovely man.

A journalist recalled his final years when he was overcome with dementia - that they were sat at a dining table and a lady attended the empty seat. Mr Reagan stood up and moved her seat for her.

They say dementia reverts a person to their core nature and his was one of kindness and politeness.

I recall our lefty teachers and (particularly) the Headmaster telling us that Reagan/Thatcher would be a disaster and that we would be drawn into WW3. At that juncture in my life I wondered at the point of studying and so didn't. Their negative influence on me (almost relentless doom) stilted my development.

I've never trusted a lefty since.

They could not have been more wrong.

Britain boomed - the Soviet Union crumbled.

Oh to have a Spitting Image equivalent now. Only the Left in charge of the broadcast media don't allow Leftism or Blairism to be lampooned.

Ha! I loved Spitting Image - "the presidents brain is missing" still sticks in my mind.
I think Jelly belly have done a great job with their tribute to number 40.
