Double trouble 3

No that the initial euphoria and panic of the new baby's arrival has subsided I am back in the saddle again in my hunt for a new home/homes. In England the house I was outbid on, is back in the frame again along with all its glorious possibilities and attendant problems. The picture shows the troublesome stone work of one of the several cottages that come with the house.I love working with stone and red sandstone being a particularly pleasing stone to work, the prospect of tackling these cottages is something I relish although there is rather a lot of work...big bills too! The trustees of the Leverhulme trust need to consider my offer now and then we shall see what happens....fingers crossed. In California I now have a realtor helping me in my search as many of the properties I have viewed online only provide limited info without a realtor....to a Brit a strange state of affairs. Everything I have been interested in the Napa valley so far has been too run down to consider so I need to find a 'fixer upper' that requires work but hopefully nothing too drastic...the search continues.

That property would be well worth the ensuing headaches.

Nice one, haven't seen anything around that would have suited you, went to Selby last week the place was up for sale, but it was half a bungalow + 7 acres 1,5 under glass, but in a very strange position, off a private rd, only went for plants,it looks as if the wall has moved on that piccy, still local stone, seen lots of old stone at a garden centre off the top Chester rd next to Darlingtons and the car place ,by the dual carriageway to parkgate,is that "slate" millstone grit on that little roof, noticed the for sale sign still up as I go past, nearly got done for speeding the other sat night in White house lane, they had a camera at the top end I must have got down to 30 before seeing them the and got a only a yelling at,put it down to them being nice before the elections,is that one of the places on the tithe map.

Anon..pic is of bothy,it seems to have been built around 1860-70 so not on the first tithe map as only part of house and the main barn seem to date pre 1830?
