The autumn/winter weather here in California has for a hardy Brit such as myself been rather pleasurable with many days reminiscent of summer in England. I awoke yesterday morning to see our local mountain covered in a fair covering of snow that extended as far down as surrounding towns such as Danville. Do Californians have a direct line to god?....the Christmas season arrives and it snows!....you just can't be this lucky. At home in England it is as usual wet and windy,not much of a surprise there. There is an urban legend that Eskimos have 200 words for snow...big deal! I have 500 for rain and all of them begin with f!

...ten days in Cyprus at the beginning of summer and I was pining for fresh rain on my face.
Now, now, calm down...rain is just warm snow!
snow was ment to be cold and white and fluffy and slowly fall to the ground not sharp and fast god damn misserable.
We have just completed over 50 unbroken days of rain in Blighty.St Swithins Day would have been a blessing.
Lucky? It's freakin' cold! What's the French word for ice-bath, bain-marie? The surrounding hills are all frozen, and down in the valley the cold air slides down the hillside freezing everything.
Take me back to Calcutta!
